PROGRAM

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

Diploma Programs are designed to train students in a specialized skill set for entry-level employment or to upgrade skills for job advancement. The Hospitality Program is a 760 clock hour diploma designed to prepare students for entry-level employment in the hospitality field. The program requires students to complete 300 clock hours of preparation toward industry certification(s) through coursework. In addition, students in all tracks are required to complete core courses that provide preparation for employment and independent living. Supervised 310 hours of internship is also required.

Students who successfully complete all required courses in their program of study, will be presented a diploma. Students must complete 100% of the programs required hours, earn a minimum of 2.0 cumulative grade point average, and fulfil all financial obligations to the institution as well as all any additional required graduation clearance processes.

PROGRAM DELIVERY

Classroom-Based Delivery: All of the courses (except internship) are delivered with instruction and interaction between the student and the instructor occurring primarily in a physical classroom.

Hybrid Delivery: A program in which both the physical classroom and distance delivery are used to provide instruction and interaction between students and the instructor, except labs and internship. All hands-on technical skills building labs are conducted on-ground via classroom-based delivery.

Total program hours include an Internship that is a full-time commitment of 310 hours delivered off-site, in a real-world environment (internship site). Actual times are set by the internship sites. Students are responsible for transportation to and from the internship site, as well as meals.

PROGRAM OCCUPATIONAL OBJECTIVE

The Marino Campus Hospitality Program prepares students for employment in hospitality, one of Florida’s leading industries. The Marino Campus partners with the American Hotel and Lodging Educational Institute (AHLEI). AHLEI offers hospitality training and hotel management certifications. AHLEI training programs are all endorsed by the American Hotel & Lodging Association and conform to the best practices in the hotel and lodging industry. Marino Campus hospitality courses, materials, and certification pathways are endorsed by the AHLEI. Students are prepared for career paths such as front desk guest services representative, guestroom attendant, banquet set-up attendant, restaurant attendant, and trained kitchen employee.
